The Learning Institute has launched a groundbreaking project culminating in an academic volume that brings together a broad spectrum of perspectives on the revival of classical education. Edited by Dr. Joanna Williams and Dr. Richard Fodor, the book features contributions from 16 authors across the United States and Europe. It offers a comprehensive exploration of classical education through theoretical, philosophical, and historical lenses, while also presenting practical tools, curricula, and real-world applications. Often described as conservative, liberal, or knowledge-based, classical education introduces students to what British poet and school inspector Matthew Arnold called “the best which has been thought and said in the world.” Rooted in a content-rich, subject-based approach, it serves as an induction into the values and moral norms of civilization. In this panel, speakers will assess the global state of education, critique the rise of progressive, child-centered, and politicized curricula, and examine growing tensions between schools and families—especially when educators seek to shape children’s beliefs in ways that may diverge from those of their parents. The panel is powered by the Learning Institute.
