Századvég Publishing

The Századvég Foundation was established in 1993, thirty years ago now, as the intellectual image of the young generation that played an active role in the change of regime in Hungary. Initially publishing newspapers and books and training policy experts, the Foundation's main focus was on presenting Hungarian national strategic priorities and patterns of European development. The founding generation played an important role in laying the basis for a democratic Hungarian constitutional state and market economy.

Századvég Publishing began its operation in 1985, the year the first issue of Századvég journal was released. A few years later, the journal expanded into a publishing house, which over the past three decades has become one of Hungary’s leading publishers in the fields of social and political sciences. The Publishing House operates within the framework of the Foundation established in parallel with it.

Its ever-growing catalogue features works by both Hungarian and international authors. Századvég Publishing places great emphasis on publishing theoretical and comprehensive works in Hungarian translation—especially those that are in the media spotlight—to help readers understand and reflect on recent and current events.

Századvég is a continually expanding intellectual hub that values cultural contribution across various segments of Hungarian life. Its publications enrich Hungarian book publishing with significant and often long-missing works spanning media history, theatre, film, literature, philosophy, gastronomy, and sociography.
