The Rubicon Institute is the first history think tank in Hungary. The aim of our work is to enable a wide range of society to discover the latest results of historical research and to learn about Hungarian history in a professional way. We study Hungarian history - especially the history of the 19th and 20th centuries - from a non-partisan, professional perspective, painting an objective picture of the events, personalities and processes of our past, and trying to draw lessons from history and formulate recommendations for the present.
The Rubicon Institute is Hungary’s first historical educational think tank. Our mission is to make the latest results of historical scholarship accessible to a broad audience and to promote a professional understanding of Hungarian history. We examine Hungary’s past – with a special focus on the 19th and 20th centuries – from an impartial, scholarly perspective, offering an objective portrayal of historical events, figures, and processes. By drawing lessons from history, we aim to formulate thoughtful reflections and suggestions for the present.
We also closely monitor international historical research related to Hungarian history in order to place domestic scholarly discourse in a broader context. At the same time, we strive to promote knowledge of Hungarian history and share a Hungarian perspective on world history with international audiences.
