National Heritage Institute

We believe that the values of our past are the pillars of our future; and to know who we are and where we are going, we must also know where we came from. Everyone, every family and country has a special mission that only they can fulfil. But in order to fulfil one's mission, one must first know what it is. To do this, it is essential to know our history: who we are, where we came from, what our parents dreamed of and why our ancestors gave their lives.

We believe that the values of our past are the pillars of our future—and to understand who we are and where we’re going, we must also know where we come from. Every person has a unique mission only they can fulfill, just as every family, country, and nation has its own calling. But to fulfill that mission, one must first know what it is—and that begins with a sense of historical awareness: knowing who we are, where we come from, what our parents dreamed of, and why our ancestors gave their lives.

As part of the MCC Feszt, we invite young people to visit our tent, share their thoughts, and participate in creative activities and quiz games. Through these experiences, they can build a more vivid connection to key historical eras, national heroes, and heritage sites. Visitors will learn about 21 national and 64 historical memorial sites overseen by the National Heritage Institute—from the Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park and Pannonhalma Archabbey to Sárospatak and Siklós Castle.

The tent also features our newly released “Turning Points” animated short film series, which introduces Hungarian national heroes through youth-friendly, creative storytelling formats. Additionally, visitors can explore the National Memory Education Program, launched last year to promote historical knowledge in innovative and engaging ways.
