Committee of National Remembrance

The now 10-year-old Committee of National Remembrance carries out its tasks on the basis of the mandate given to it by the Hungarian National Assembly. Its role is to investigate the operation and consequences of the communist dictatorship, to shape related historical memory, to preserve the memory of the victims and heroes, and to enrich the knowledge of future generations. Our activities are based on three pillars: funadamental scientific research in cooperation with national and international partners; broad dissemination of knowledge, including through informal history classes, films, exhibitions and publications; and the compilation and publication of databases and online repositories.
