At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the Buda Castle Palace was reborn as a European-level royal residence based on the plans of Alajos Hauszmann, one of Hungary’s most prominent architects of the era. This period of grandeur was followed by decades of neglect after World War II. The National Hauszmann Program aims to restore the Buda Castle District to its former turn-of-the-century glory, in a way that reflects both its significant role in Hungarian history and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our development efforts are focused on creating a vibrant, livable, and welcoming urban space—a place where people not only enjoy spending time but also want to return again and again, as it continuously offers new and meaningful experiences for visitors.
