Prof. Dr. László Palkovics is the Government Commissioner responsible for artificial intelligence in Hungary. He previously served as Minister of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology (2018–2022), and later of the Ministry of Technology and Industry (2022). He holds a degree in mechanical engineering and has played a significant role in both academic and industrial institutions, including the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the Institute for Computer Science and Control (SZTAKI) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and the Knorr-Bremse company. His professional focus includes innovation policy, higher education, and industrial R&D. He played a key role in developing Hungary’s national AI strategy and advancing technological modernization. His engineering and innovation achievements have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Széchenyi Prize and the Gábor Dénes Prize.
