Zsuzsanna Orsós is a biologist whose work focuses on the health of the Hungarian Roma population, with a particular emphasis on the genetic factors influencing disease susceptibility. She graduated from the University of Pécs in 2005 with a degree in biology, and her doctoral dissertation explored the genetic determinants of cancer susceptibility among the Hungarian Roma. Her ongoing research continues to address the broader health challenges faced by this community and seeks practical avenues for improvement.
As an educator, Orsós has spent the past decade inspiring future medical professionals through a dedicated elective course that raises awareness about Roma health issues. Beyond academia, she actively engages with schools and communities across Hungary, delivering lectures on the importance of education and maintaining good health.
Her impactful work has been widely recognized. She was featured in 50 Determined Hungarian Women (2018) and Women in Hungary III (2022). Her contributions have earned her several prestigious honors, including the Generations Award, the Brighter Future Award, and the Gold Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary in 2020. In 2025, she is a nominee for the Nők Lapja Role Model Award.
