János Lackfi is a renowned writer, poet, and literary translator. He has published eighty-six books, including both poetry and prose, with half of his works aimed at adults and the other half for children. He has translated forty-three volumes from French and has been teaching creative writing for decades. Lackfi graduated from the Hungarian-French program at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and earned his PhD in 1996. He taught for seventeen years at Pázmány Péter Catholic University and served as an editor for the literary journal Nagyvilág. He is a recipient of several prestigious honors, including the Attila József Prize, the Prima Primissima Award, and Hungary’s Laurel Wreath Award. He resides in Zsámbék, and has six children and five grandchildren.
