László Horváth has been a Member of Parliament since 1990. Between 1995 and 2001, he served as the party director of Fidesz, and during the first Orbán government, he held the position of government commissioner.

In addition to winning parliamentary mandates term after term, between November 2011 and November 2012, he was appointed as a Prime Ministerial Commissioner responsible for the preparation and implementation of the national equestrian strategy. Subsequently, he moved from the Prime Minister’s Office to the Ministry of National Economy, where he was appointed ministerial commissioner coordinating the economic development of Heves County.

Since 2020, he has been a Prime Ministerial Commissioner, and from 2021, one of the spokespersons of Fidesz. László Horváth transitioned from the ministerial commissioner position responsible for the security of electricity supply — which he held at the Ministry of Energy — to become the government commissioner responsible for combating drug trafficking.
