Pál István Szalonna and His Band, recipients of the Hungarian Heritage Award, have dedicated their professional lives to preserving and passing on the culture of the Carpathian Basin—a culture with roots reaching back hundreds of years, one that can serve as a true source of strength for cultural continuity. Their concerts offer a glimpse into the rich folklore of the Carpathian Basin, featuring a repertoire that spans authentic traditional folk music as well as folk-inspired arrangements. The band has performed at all major festivals in Hungary and has also taken the stage around the world, with concerts in Venezuela, India, Greece, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Mexico, and the United States, among others. The group was founded and is led by Pál István Szalonna—Recipient of the Liszt Ferenc Prize, Meritorious Artist of Hungary, and Artistic Director of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble. In addition to being a distinguished violinist (prímás), he frequently contributes as a featured artist and composer on albums by renowned singers and bands.
