In November 2024, the left-liberal German government collapsed. In February 2025, the German people elected a new parliament in snap elections. The new federal government made up of Christian Democrats and Social Democrats is already facing major crises. Internally, the country is shaken by an economic crisis and terrorist attacks, which have raised the question of a change in migration policy. Externally, Germany is confronted by the new Trump administration, the war in Ukraine, and the need for a common European security and defence policy. The new German government expects to imperatively assume a leadership role and find solutions to these crises. But can Germany navigate these troubled political waters? Join us for a timely analysis of Germany’s path in an era of domestic and international turbulence! The panel is powered by the German-Hungarian Institute for European Cooperation.
