Dr. Péter Takáts is a medical doctor and healthcare professional, currently serving as the State Secretary for Health at the Ministry of Interior of Hungary.
He graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at Semmelweis University in 2005 and obtained a public administration qualification in 2014. He began his career as a resident physician specializing in forensic medicine, then worked in the field of pharmacovigilance and later in healthcare organization and management.
He has held positions as a healthcare policy advisor, hospital department head, and director of outpatient services. He led the Saint John’s Hospital in Budapest and served as Deputy Director General for Primary and Specialist Care at the National Hospital Directorate. Since May 2022, he has been State Secretary for Health.
His public roles have included President of the Hungarian Resident Association, member of the Board of Governors of Semmelweis University, and a member of the national presidency of the Hungarian Medical Chamber.
