Gábor Orbán began his career as an economist at the Central Bank of Hungary and the European Central Bank, later becoming a portfolio manager and head of fixed income at Aegon Asset Management. He also served as State Secretary for Taxation and Financial Affairs at the Ministry for National Economy. Following this, he worked at Rothschild’s Paris office and completed his studies at the Budapest University of Economics and in the United States.

He joined Richter Gedeon Plc in 2016 as Director of Strategy, was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2017, and has served as CEO since November of that year. Under his leadership, Richter has expanded significantly in international markets, especially in the U.S. and Europe. The company’s strategy has focused on strengthening its gynecology portfolio and advancing biotechnological and innovative therapies, while actively pursuing growth in new regions and product segments.

Orbán is a member of several prominent organizations, including the Stock Exchange Advisory Board, the Foundation for National Health and Medical Education, and the Trilateral Commission Europe. In recognition of his leadership and contributions to Hungary’s economy and healthcare sector, he received the “Most Inspirational Leader of the Year” award in 2024, the Officer’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit in 2025, and the Wahrmann Mór Medal for outstanding achievements in economic life.
