István Forgács earned his degree from the College of Public Administration in 1999. He subsequently pursued further studies at the Central European University and participated in several professional training programs at Columbia University and in Strasbourg, France, under the auspices of the Council of Europe.

Over the course of his career, he has gained experience across the civil sector, central governmental administration, and the for-profit sector. For several years, he supported economic-based social inclusion through his own consultancy agency. In recent years, he has undertaken responsibilities in the development of vocational education and in drug prevention initiatives, now as part of his work within government.

He is married and the father of three children, and he frequently appears in both national and international media outlets.
